I have read "No Great Mischief" by Alistair MacLeod and I have to analyze this book in English for my final year at school. I find the book fascinating but somewhat difficult to understand in terms of history and geography ( as I live in Australia) So I figured I would ask the people who know best! Is it just coincidence that Alexander MacDonalds shares the same intials as the author?

What I can gather so far from this book is that it is about the importance of family values and the impact of their history in the present day. I'm still unsure of the conclusion, some sort of reconciliation or sense of spirituality?

If anyone can shed some light on the subject and help me understand it a bit better that would be greatly appreciated. I would like to know how Wolfe's actions in the past fit in with the present day of narrating Alexander.... and what " no great mischief if they fall" actually means. I'm still not certain of the book title and how it impacts the story.:\

Thankyou kindly:D
