This is going to seem like a truly odd inquiry. When I was little I read a children's book (I would guess it would be K-2 level). It was a picture book and the reading level wasn't too high. I vividly remember the pictures...a little pudgy girl (she wasn't too pretty to look at), she wore a tutu and it detailed her adventures. I THINK her name was Myra (or something similar to that). Can ANYONE help me with the title of this book? I wish I could help with more details...but since I...

Hi, I'm new here, so I hope it's OK that I'm already asking a question. There's a children's book that I read a long time ago, about 10 years probably, and I can't remember the title or author. I also, however, can only remember random bits of information about the plot. Here's what I can remember:

The main character of the story is a girl, in her early to mid teenage years.

She likes stories and poetry. She says when she first read Lewis Carroll's "Jabberwocky," she...

What children's book are you reading? I'm reading The Voyage of Dr. Dolittle. That's a Newbury Winner and I'll be curious to compare it to the first one I read last month, The Story of Doctor Dolittle. In that one the editors had taken out some parts that would be offensive to today's readers. Their reasoning was Hugh Lofting would have been the first to OK changes since he was that kind of person. What do you all think about changes to classics? Personally, I would hate for a great book to...
